Dun Laoghaire Coastal Walk

Our first Social Walk of the 2026 – 2027 season will start from the Tourist Office located diagonally opposite Dun Laoghaire Dart Station. It’s in a pre-fab outside the Meadows and Byrne shop.

The walk is 5km on good paths and will take about one hour. Please wear comfortable walking shoes or trainers. We will enjoy refreshments together after the walk.

There are many options to explore after the walk if you wish “to make a day of it”. 

The Lexicon Public Library is hosting an exhibition of work by the members of the Irish Guild of Embroiderers, Threads of Imagination: Creative Embroidery and Textile Art.

The National Maritime Museum next door is also worth a visit. 

A 2hr walking trail: The Dun Laoghaire Passport, available from the Tourist Kiosk, will allow you to get credits for visiting and collecting stamps on your ‘Passport’ at various places of interest in the town. Completed cards are rewarded with a pin from the tourist staff when presented on your return to the kiosk.  Our walk will start you off on your journey. Tosach maith…

Transport suggestions.

Take the DART to Dun Laoghaire Station. Buses 7, 7A, 45 serve Dun Laoghaire.

The S8 bus terminus is at our start point.  This bus runs from City West through South Dublin to Dun Laoghaire Station.

The L25 bus to Dun Laoghaire station from Dundrum Town Centre.

Take bus E2 running through the city via the N11 from Harristown. Formerly the 46A.

There is pay street parking and private pay car parks nearby.

Social walks are held monthly, September to May, on the third Wednesday of the month. Flat or nearly flat walks that are approximately 5km. Always a stop for refreshments arranged for after each walk.
