Correction!

In a recent Bridge Competition notice that went out with your notice of meeting, there was a mistake that has now been drawn to our attention!  The price mentioned for entry to the competition was €25 per person.  This of course should have been €25 per couple!  Please forgive us for making such an elementary error, but the notice wasn’t proof read before going to post!

A number of people have asked me if we are thinking of offering a course in digital photography.  Many members have a digital camera but don’t know how to download the photos onto their computer, and don’t know how to do some basic editing on their photos, to remove red eye for example.  If sufficient members indicate their desire for such a course, I would be happy to oblige by offering a beginners’ course in Blackrock EC, on one of our drop-in mornings.  Please indicate your willingness to attend such a course by responding to this mailing with a comment.

How about a big Christmas Party sponsored by Comhar Linn???

What a wonderful suggestion! I will pass it on to the National Secretary immediately. I think the idea of a party, be it at Christmas or any other time of the year is one worth pursuing and one that the branch might well consider subsidising. Perhaps members might like to come in on this discussion with suggestions as to the type of party, time of year, interest in attending etc etc. I look forward to being inundated with suggestions!!

We would be interested in a digital photography course.
    Many thanks,

That’s three people who have expressed an interest! We need about 6 more to make it worth while holding the course. What I envisage is a practical course where participants bring their digital cameras and laptops with them to the centre. Blackrock EC has promised me a room and facilities to undertake the course. There would be a minimum of theory and plenty of hands on practice with the camera taking shots and them downloading the photos to the laptop and using a free piece of software to resize, crop, straighten, get rid of red eye, fix under/over exposure, upload to an online storage, print and email photos.
